tourism☆marocain - TéLOUET

At the heart of the country Glaoua, in a high valley or wadi Imarene flows, an impressive amount of Télouet casbahs. Left to abandon since 1956, there remains little more, this magnificent residence, which was illustrated by the opulence of the Glaoui, a pile of glazed tile roofs, watchtowers, terraces and parts of walls cracked. But in his heart were miraculously preserved two rooms decorated dazzling.

Télouet was a place where caravans forced from Marrakesh to Ouarzazate before the road construction of Tizi n-Tichka. Thanks to this strategic position it was for a century, one of the strongholds of lords glaoua. Among them are powerful Al Hadj Thami al Glawi, pasha of Marrakesh, "said the Glaoui, who was born and died at Télouet (1875-1956).

Télouet The region is inhabited since time immemorial by Berber related to the great family of Masmouda.

It reached the kasbah on a runway on the right that led up to the main door of Dar Glaoui. This former residence of caïd until the end of french protectorate, represented the pasha of Marrakech, stands on a hill overlooking the bed of the wadi Imare it includes a complex of buildings dating from the nineteenth century and consist of successive additions. A main speaker at several courses surrounded by crenellated walls give the whole aspect of a most unusual.

Accompanied by a guard (giving equal pay for a museum official entry), you can visit two pieces of sumptuous apartments, which were miraculously saved.

The most notable is the reception hall, whose windows open onto the grid campaign. The floor and walls are covered with mosaics while stucco ceilings are carved or painted cedar. The decoration of these rooms mobilized 300 workers, who worked for three years and a painter who "each day covered a few square centimeters." It is curious to note how this rich decoration inspiration Andalusian contrasts with the austerity of architecture Berber that we discover in amount on the terraces. Of these last, very nice view of the Jebel Ghat (3800 m).

When all the property of the Glaoui family were confiscated after his death, the casbahs of Telouet, "visible sign of a supreme ambition," was abandoned.

Based on Télouet, you can reach the upper valley of Wadi lounil or ounila runway by 6803 and beyond, Ait Benhaddou (47 km, all-terrain vehicle necessary; learn about the runway conditions, unworkable during the rainy season). The trail follows the old road caravans, including passing by kasbas of Anemiter and Tamdaght before reaching the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, fantastic pile of houses, towers and fortifications of red earth. Many ruins on this course, but landscapes of great beauty
